Special Investigation Unit

The Caledonia Special Investigations Unit, Inc. (CSIU) is a non-profit corporation established to assure that the citizens of all communities in Caledonia Country benefit from the effectiveness and support that is made possible through a multidisciplinary team of professionals who collaboratively respond to allegations of sexual violence and serious child abuse.

The Caledonia County State's Attorneys and victim's advocates, Vermont State Police, Vermont Department of Children and Families, Vermont Department of Corrections, St. Johnsbury Police Department, Umbrella, AWARE, Northeast Vermont Regional Hospital, ChildSafe Program of Vermont, and other professionals have partnered together to assure that victims and their non-offending family members benefit from prompt, professional, and competent investigations and support by a multidisciplinary team of professionals who have been specially trained to support them through disclosure, investigations, and prosecution of sexual violence and serious child abuse.

The St. Johnsbury Police Department supports the CSIU by providing the unit with an officer to investigate cases that occur in the town of St. Johnsbury. This officer is Detective Daniele Kostruba.
